Catalyzing Urban Biodiversity as Climate Action

At COP16 in Cali, Colombia, Center for Regenerative Solutions and its partners will announce the launch of the Urban Biodiversity Accelerator, a transformative initiative designed to bridge the gap between global biodiversity commitments and local urban actions across three regions—North America, Latin America, and Europe.

As cities worldwide seek to implement the ambitious biodiversity protection and enhancement goals set in global venues and frameworks, the Urban Biodiversity Accelerator offers a pragmatic and action-oriented solution to the challenge of putting ambition into relevant community-benefiting action.

The 4-month capacity-building intensive provides leading edge techniques, tools and systems, as biodiversity experts guide participating communities through a sequence of developmental steps designed to support the development of locally customized urban biodiversity strategies and accelerate community implementation of equity-centered, nature-based biodiversity climate solutions.

Participating in the Urban Biodiversity Accelerator, local decision-makers, practitioners, technicians, and policy planners can harness innovative, equity-centered approaches to not only meet their biodiversity and ecosystem restoration commitments, but also engage in a vibrant and connected learning cohort that aims to improve current urban and rural environments to become more resilient and sustainable in the future.
